The National Eye Institute (NEI) describes the symptoms of colorblindness as trouble telling the difference between colors. Color blindness is also known as color vision deficiency.

The International Dyslexia Association defines dyslexia as, “a language-based learning disability”. “Dyslexia refers to a cluster of symptoms, which result in people having difficulties with specific language skills, particularly reading.”

Wheelchairs? Accessible parking Walkers? Glasses? While it’s true that some disabilities are very visible, many types of disabilities are “invisible”. Persons with “invisible disabilities” may feel more pressure to conform to society’s standards of what “normal” is.

We opened the month of September with Labor Day. As September is quickly drawing to a close, we remember the health professionals and support staff at KenCCID who work tirelessly every day to support our individuals with disabilities.

The new fall season is already upon us. With fall comes a lot of new beginnings, especially for the little ones going back to school. New backpack. New uniform. New routine. New friends. New school. New grade. For us here at KenCCID, fall brings a renewed sense of commitment to our mission to serve individuals with disabilities. Though the seasons may change, our commitment to individuals with disabilities remains unwavering.
