Jackie’s Story: More Than Three Decades of Service
Jacqueline Griffin, known to many as Jackie or Jacqui, was born and raised in Philadelphia. Her journey with KenCCID began in July 1988 and has grown into a remarkable career centered on supporting and serving individuals with special needs.

Life Is Sweet: Mary's Story
Mary became a resident of KenCCID in 2001. She was born 3 months premature but didn’t allow that to stop her. She is very friendly and enjoys activities outside of the home. Employment has broadened her horizons in many areas.

Bilal's Road to Success
Bilal began receiving support from KenCCID in March of 2011. Born 6 weeks premature, Bilal didn’t let developmental disabilities hold him back. Bilal was raised in less than ideal conditions, but with the help of his grandmother and the KenCCID staff, as well as other out-side advocates, Bilal is now on the road to success.

Robin’s Story: Finding Joy in Work and Creativity
Robin transferred to KenCCID in 1999. Maintaining employment is one of her favorite accomplishments. Robin attended the School for the Council of Mental Health and Mental Retardation. It was always stated that she is helpful, puts forth her best effort and works extremely hard at all duties given.

Year in Review 2023
It seems like just yesterday we were in the middle of a whirlwind pandemic. Life seems to slowly be returning to “normal” – or a “new normal”, that is. For us here at KenCCID, we never stopped caring for those entrusted to our care. We never stopped providing a safe and nurturing space that individuals with disabilities could call home.

Hear Ye
This month we looked at color blindness and dyslexia as part of our series on “invisible disabilities”. We’re ending the month by focusing on individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing. In an earlier post, we chronicled the history of closed captions. This fascinating technology that we take for granted today on our Netflix binge, is rooted in providing an accessible way to communicate with persons who are deaf or hard of hearing.
