Sally and Dorothy had lots of laughs during a recent trip to the Carousel House. They watched a show, took some pictures and had a fun afternoon. Carousel House, located at Belmont Avenue and Avenue of the Republic, is dedicated to providing socialization, recreational and educational services to persons with disabilities who reside throughout the Philadelphia area. It is the first of its kind in the United States sponsored by a municipality.

Everyday Lives is a document that promotes the concept of self-determination for people with disabilities. It began in 1989 with the Pennsylvania Office of Developmental Programs (ODP) inviting people with disabilities, families, advocates, governmental officials, and service providers to think about what the future should look like for all people with disabilities.

Every year, KenCCID brings people together for a year-end employee recognition celebration. This lively event is attended by management staff, board of directors, employees, individuals, and prominent members of the community.

Over the summer Sara attended the movie theatre located at 1619 Grant Ave. Phila. Pa. 19115. She saw the movie Til Death Do Us Part. The movie was about a married woman who is surprised by her husband’s abusive nature and behavior; she eventually fakes her death to get away from him.

It is said, if you love someone, let them go, & if they are truly yours they will come back to you. So the story begins. From the time I met Carolyn, I could see her heart was filled with love. A love for Tyric that took them through ups & downs, but through it all, nothing could keep them away from each other, not even dating other people. Enough was enough!

My brother Bobby lived at home with my parents for most of his life. Once my aging parents were ready to grasp the concept of community living KenCCID became the new family for Bobby. Yes, Bobby’s new family became KenCCID since 1999, where he continues to maintain his quality of life and where he continues to preserve his individual dignity and respect.

Each Holiday Season, KenCCID brings together all those who care for and about KenCCID for an Annual KenCCID Appreciation Day. Please help us continue this KenCCID tradition that has become so important to the people we serve by sponsoring the 35th Annual Appreciation Day.

“51 years ago,” says Shirley Rosenberg, “I gave birth to my second son, Bob, who was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy. My husband Sid and I were told he probably never would walk or talk. We went from doctor to doctor about his condition because we never wanted to hear a doctor say, ‘Why did you wait so long?’ But Bob fooled them all! All I can say to the parents with children who have some kind of disability is ‘Don’t give up!’”
