In June 2018, six KenCCID Individuals participated in the annual Rock the Runway. The City of Philadelphia Department of Behavioral Health and Intellectual disAbility Services’ event spotlights models with intellectual disAbilities walking the runway at Community Behavioral Health.

As a child, LeRone loved to play, laugh, and smile. He was a very happy go lucky child. He continued his optimistic outlook on life when he was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy as a child. Even with all his medical complications, he continued to grow into a joyous, loving man that continued to smile and light up a room.

At the end of 2017 we gathered together to celebrate the people we serve and the people who are key to providing the services. It’s because of valued friends like you that we can directly enhance a person’s life. Generous donors who give to the Individuals and Employees Appreciation program, help people with intellectual disabilities experience an “Everyday Life.”

One of KenCCID’s values is “Empowerment”. We strive to empower our Individuals to live self-directed lives. One of the ways we put this value into action is to encourage the people we serve to make choices about how they want to spend their time socializing and having fun. We’re lucky to be based in Philadelphia with so many things to do in the area!

Dorothy K. went to Niagara Falls in July with staff Bertha H. Dorothy wanted to go to Niagara Falls because among a number of pictures she looked at, she pointed a picture/post card of Niagara falls. It’s also a great place to visit and buy souvenirs.

Anna wanted to celebrate her birthday at Tiffany‘s Diner. She loves the food there. She was joined by her staff London H. and along with Naomie P. They had a great afternoon filled with good food, good friends and good presents!!

Joseph Harris attended a field trip to the zoo over the summer. He went to the Philadelphia Zoo located at 3400 W Girard Avenue. Phila. Pa. 19104. Joseph Harris attended the zoo because staff noticed that Joseph has a great affection for animals, especially dogs, after visiting a dog shelter and volunteering to walk dogs; staff therefore thought it would be a great idea to take Joseph on a field trip to the Philadelphia Zoo.

Robert R and Robert W are both roommates at Ambassador Place on the 1 Fl. and vacation together year after year by their own volition. They went to Ventnor NJ during the summer. It’s a trip that they take each year for approximately a week through Guided Tours.

Joe K, an avid Elvis fan, enjoyed himself thoroughly on his recent outing to Atlantic City on October 30th. Joe and his staff were part of a one day Starr Tours excursion. They traveled in style on a comfortable luxury bus liner. boarding at the Northeast shopping center they both relaxed on the hour plus trek over to the Garden State.
