KenCCID Participates in Philadelphia’s Employment First Stakeholder Event

Building Connections, Creating Opportunities, and Advancing Inclusive Employment

At KenCCID, we believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to pursue meaningful employment, develop their talents, and contribute to their community.

On October 15, 2026, KenCCID’s Competitive Integrated Employment (CIE) team proudly represented our organization at Philadelphia’s Employment First Stakeholder Event, held at the Independence Visitor Center near historic Independence Hall in Philadelphia.

The event brought together service providers, advocates, community partners, and representatives from the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation (OVR), Office of Developmental Programs (ODP), and Intellectual disAbility Services (IDS) to share ideas, strengthen partnerships, and explore new possibilities for inclusive employment.

Reimagining Employment and Expanding Opportunities

This year's event centered on the theme “Reimagining Employment,” encouraging participants to think creatively about how individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) can access meaningful career opportunities.

The conversations focused on removing barriers, expanding access to employment, and improving Competitive Integrated Employment outcomes for individuals with disabilities.

Competitive Integrated Employment means more than simply having a job. It means having opportunities to work alongside people with and without disabilities, earn competitive wages, develop professional skills, and participate fully in the workforce.

For KenCCID, these principles reflect our ongoing commitment to supporting individuals in achieving greater independence, dignity, and personal fulfillment.

The Power of Collaboration and Community Connections

One of the most valuable aspects of the event was the opportunity to connect with fellow service providers and representatives from organizations working toward similar goals.

Through networking, shared experiences, and meaningful discussions, KenCCID's CIE team explored ways to strengthen partnerships and identify opportunities that can help individuals succeed in the workplace.

Events like this remind us that creating a more inclusive workforce requires collaboration among employers, service providers, government agencies, families, and the individuals seeking employment.

When we work together, we can help create pathways to employment that recognize each person's unique abilities, interests, and potential.

Turning Ideas Into Action

The event also encouraged attendees to look beyond traditional approaches to employment services and imagine what the future of inclusive employment could look like.

Through interactive discussions, creative activities, and shared success stories, participants explored ways to challenge existing barriers and develop new strategies that support employment opportunities for people with disabilities.

The event's collaborative spirit was reflected in a colorful visual display capturing ideas, goals, and possibilities shared throughout the gathering.

These conversations reinforced an important message:

Meaningful employment is not simply about finding a job. It is about creating opportunities for independence, confidence, connection, and long-term success.

KenCCID's Commitment to Competitive Integrated Employment

At KenCCID, our Competitive Integrated Employment services are focused on helping individuals discover their strengths, explore career interests, and pursue meaningful employment opportunities within their communities.
