Sometimes the most meaningful moments happen in everyday conversations.
KenCCID Community Engagement Coordinator Miles Cutler recently spent some time visiting Brenda and Roseanne at their home at Sheffield. The visit was filled with conversation, laughter and exciting updates about what’s happening in their lives.
Brenda Is Ready to Get to Work
Brenda had some big news to share: she recently completed a job interview at Dollar Tree!
She’s excited about the possibility of working, earning greater independence and taking on a new opportunity in her community. Now, she’s eagerly waiting to hear what comes next.
Of course, there were other important decisions to make that day too—including what kind of hoagie to have for lunch!
It’s a simple moment, but one that reflects something important: having choices, making decisions and pursuing personal goals are all part of living an independent and fulfilling life.
Roseanne Talks Fashion and Individuality
Miles also spent time catching up with Roseanne, and their conversation turned to fashion and shopping.
Roseanne describes her everyday style as a little more “tomboy,” but she also enjoys dressing up, wearing dresses and adding pretty floral patterns to her wardrobe.
Her style is her own—and having the freedom to express that individuality is another part of what community inclusion is all about.
Why These Moments Matter
At KenCCID, our work is about more than programs and services. It’s about people.
It’s about supporting someone as they prepare for a job interview. It’s about encouraging independence and personal choices. It’s about listening to what matters to each individual and helping create opportunities for people to live, work, grow and participate in their communities.
These everyday moments may seem small, but together, they can make a meaningful difference in a person’s life.
